My friend’s sister tested positive. She’s got some fairly significant disabilities, and I am so scared for her. Picked it up at the doctor’s office.
Meanwhile, our Governors comments on our record case numbers is basically, “Welp, it was inevitable I guess, but hey, seems mild, hope the hospitals don’t crash, get vaccinated, peace out, bitches.”
Trying to get a PCR test is a multi hour to multi day exercise, there are still folks wandering around the market without masks, and the antibody treatment they’re trying to get for my friends sister is in short supply, and we have no structural mitigation or support whatsoever.
I’m so fucking angry.

“Picked it up at the doctor’s office” is my absolute nightmare where both of my parents are concerned. I caught it at the dentist, so I know it’s no joke. I have some inescapably in-person appointments coming up soon and I’m really dreading it.
I’m genuinely starting to believe this will never end. I always somehow knew libertarians would kill us all, but damn.
It’s maddening and terrifying. And she & her Mom have been taking every last precaution cause she’s high risk. They keep saying “oh don’t put off routine care” but fuck, it’s not right to go the docs office and come out with Covid.
I’m supposed to see the dentist at the end of January – but my temp crown is holding beautifully, and unless things are drastically different by then, it will get pushed back.
Yeah, my father hasn’t seen a dentist since 2019 because of all this. I am both totally understanding that decision, and also worried because dental health is actually…kinda important? And now his odds of needing something invasive next time are much higher…there is no winning.
I wish I were Jorts. He doesn’t worry about these things he knows nothing about. Let’s just become Jorts and be done with it.
