Another day

Another call to Congress. This USPS fuckery…

Now I’m starting to think I’d be better off doing absentee-in-person, cause I’m not really sure I’ll *get* my ballot in the first place with the talk circulating of telling the USPS to just not deliver ballots in the first place.

I can apply for absentee now, but they won’t mail the ballots until 45 days before the election – which in normal times would be more than enough time for it to get here. Now? Who knows if it will arrive at all, much less in time.

I’m very angry that this fucker in the White House is going to make me risk my health and the health of others just to get him out of office. Shit, I’ll don a full hazmat suit if I have to – BUT I SHOULDN’T HAVE TO.

Connolly’s office is going to get an earful this morning.

I swear, we need to burn the GOP to the ground and salt the earth. They weren’t great before the last 4 years, but my god, the utter disregard for human life in the pursuit of power is just horrific to put it mildly. We’ve put up with it for far too long and it’s time to relegate them to the dustbin of history.

    Co-signing this whole thing.

Our primary is tomorrow. I got my ballot Saturday — Saturday! — thanks to the USPS slowdown. Making things worse, the town had forgotten to fill out part of it. They were supposed to stamp the mailing address on the outer envelope, but they didn’t, so I had to hand-write it myself. Now I’m terrified that means it’ll be invalidated.

I have a perfect voting streak, in every election (even boring off-schedule local referenda!), since the day I registered, and now I might lose it because we were totally unprepared and underfunded for this, and because the USPS didn’t deliver my ballot with enough time to address the envelope issue before I needed to turn it in.

Unless we’re deep in a second wave in November, my father and I have both agreed we’re voting in person in November. Which is INSANE, as an asthmatic and a transplant recipient, but voting out Trump and avoiding a possible GOP takeover of our state senate is that crucial.

Everything feels so URGENT and DESPERATE now and I hate hate hate it.

I just don’t feel like I can put my trust in Congress to get the Post Office moving again. Just hoping the lines for early absentee aren’t insane.
